Sotiros, after the legend there was built a village, which was also called Polisma. It was built an altar to honor the half god Herakles, because he is god of the isle. The village was grounded by Pothon. Some meters above of Sotiros there were built some new houses and pensions. In the middle of the ruins you will find two churches. They are very gut preserved.
The village was built interior to protect them from the pirates. But today you are able to see the village from the sea because most of the forest is gone. Some of it is gone because of a fire and some of the trees were cut by the people. In the ruins there were found some gifts for the dead, antic graves, small pots and also a relief of a horseman. The last inhabitants are occupied agriculture and honey. Together with Skala Sotiros there are about 750 inhabitants, who are living there.
Skala Sotiros is the coastal part of the village which acquires traffic especially during the summer months. This is influenced immensely by local businesses (rooms, restaurants, gas stations, super market) as well as the beach with clean sand which is ideal for relaxation and is ideal for families and couples
