The village of Rachoni is 16km away from the capital of Thassos. Near to Rachoni is the settlement of St. George.
It is a traditional village which is worth visiting the Church there, which is celebrated on August 15.According to tradition, on the 19th century, a blind girl visited the place where the church stands today and having washed her face with water that was running there found her light and then built the church. Every year there is a festival which lasts three days (in mid-August) and visited by many pilgrims.
Also, there is a new stone church in the settlement of St. George.The village is also famous for oil and honey. It is said that the olive groves of Rachoni and Prinos are the oldest of Thassos.
Going down to the sea you will meet Skala Rachoni which is 4km from the village. It is famous for its beautiful clean and shallow beaches while in recent years has been rapid growth in tourism. Near there, there are many hotels, rooms for rent, restaurants and beach bars.
